Although this is more of a clarification than a tip, the question of whether you should back-up or sync and what is the difference is a common misconception and easily confused.

A back-up is a one-way transfer from one source to another. If an image is deleted from either source, it will still be available on the other. For example, you might back-up your photos to an external hard drive or use a cloud back-up tool like Backblaze.

A sync is a two-way synchronization which enables the images to be available on both sources at the same time. If an image is deleted from one source, it will be deleted from the other.  A common sync is iCloud/Apple Photos.
