I grew up with a grandmother who loved photography. Wherever we traveled; whatever event we attended; whoever was getting married, graduating, or having a birthday; my grandmother would be there with her Super 8 movie camera prepared to record the happy event for all her loved ones to relive at the next family gathering. To my wonderful grandmother Della, I will be forever grateful. The memories she was able to captured on film is an incredible gift that I am now able to share with my children and someday – they will share with theirs.
In my professional career as a librarian and an archivist, I worked with rare books and materials, did genealogy research for organizations as well as individual patrons, and taught classes on preservation of rare materials and photographs. I learned how to properly care for and handle photographs as well as restore damaged ones. I researched photographs to find their origin, to date them, and identify persons and places. Working with clients at Gold Star Photo Solutions allows me to combine my experiences and expertise to help others preserve precious moments captured on film and to share them with loved ones.
