Emerging from a global pandemic, one thing we have all learned in the past couple years is that you cannot predict future events. No matter what region of the country you live in, natural disasters happen. In our area, we have been dealing with seasonal wild-fires and earthquakes. In other places, tornados and hurricanes are a potential source of concern. When faced with evacuation, we don’t always have time to pack the things that mean the most to us. Some of those irreplaceable things are photographs and home movies.
During the month of September, Gold Star Photo Solutions will be celebrating Save Your Photos Month by offering daily tips to help you preserve your photo and film memories. We will also feature links to businesses, organizations, and blogs with advice, services, and products that will help you Save Your Photos for years to come.
The topics for our daily tips include:
Week #1 – Gathering Your Photos
Gathering and inventorying your photo and film collection is the first step in saving and restoring your photos. This week we will give you tips and resources to help you get started.
Week #2 – Making a Plan
Once you have gathered together your photo and film collection, the next step is to create a plan based on your personal goals. This can include digitizing your collection, restoration, or organizing your photos into a manageable system that can be easily transported when the need arises.
Week #3 – Telling The Stories Behind the Images
Dating and labeling your collection doesn’t always give you the best idea of what was really happening when a specific moment was caught on film. Recording your memories through written accounts or audio recordings helps complete the stories behind the pictures.
Week#4 – Giving Your Photos New Life
Once you have gathered your photos, made a plan, and recorded the stories behind the images, your final step is to share your photos and films with friends and family. This process can include featuring your photos in digital photo frames or creating photo books. There are numerous ways you and your loved ones can enjoy your photo memories and we will discuss them all during week #4.
