If you are like most people, you probably have photos and/or home movies located everywhere. They could be on old CDs, flash drives, external hard drives as well as in albums, dresser drawers, and boxes. Then there are the photos in your Dropbox, Google Photos, or maybe a photo collection you’ve backed up to the Cloud. Just to think about organizing your collection can feel overwhelming. Where do you begin?
During week #1 of Save Your Photos Month, we are focusing on answering that very question – how to begin the process of organizing your photo collection.
Tip #1
Make A List
To begin the process of organizing your photos and home movies, you have to get them ALL into one place.
Gathering together your photo collection might seem like a daunting task. If you aren’t quite ready to physically gather together your photos or home movies, try making a list of locations where your photos are kept. Include places where you are storing slides, printed photos, negatives, and home movies. Don’t forget photo albums, framed photos, or even storage units. Creating a checklist of written locations will not only help you be more prepared when the time is right to embark on gathering and organizing but it could also make a seemingly overwhelming task feel a lot more doable.
