September is Save Your Photos Month and so far we have discussed aspects of the gathering and planning processes of a photo organizing project. What we haven’t discussed yet is the best way to backup and save your photos – scanning.

Tip #11

Scan Your Photos and Memorabilia

The process of scanning photos or memorabilia is to either purchase an image scanner or contract with an organization like Gold Star Photo Solutions to have us use an image scanner to optically scan your photos or memorabilia – that can include printed or handwritten text – and convert them to a digital image.

This digital image can be stored on a computer or flash drive. It can also be stored in the Cloud and shared with family and friends. If, for some reason, your original print or document is destroyed, scanned images that are stored in the Cloud will still be available to you so that you can make prints or share with others.
