We understand that capturing your family stories can seem like a daunting task. Luckily, there are tools and classes available to help you get started.
Tip #20
Find Tools To Help You Write Your Narratives
Here are a few suggestions to help you write your photo narratives:
- Apps for Your Phone – One example of an app that helps you capture family narratives is StoryWorth. This app will email you or a family member once a week with a question created to prompt the recipient into writing something about their life experiences. The answers are emailed to a preset list of family members or friends – whoever you would like to share your stories with. StoryWorth will even gather your stories together for you.
- Classes – In celebration of Save Your Photo Month, The Photo Managers are offering 40+ free mini-classes (15 minutes each) dealing with various subjects including how to capture you family stories. Classes are taught by professional photo managers and available from September 1st through October 31st. Visit The Photo Managers website to register.
- Research Experts – If you need a little help with locating the facts behind the stories, check out the FamilySearch website. They offer advice on how to get started writing family and personal histories including writing prompts for you and family members.
Utilizing tools like websites or phone apps and taking classes to help you get started crafting your family stories, can make this portion of your photo organizing project more enjoyable and a lot less stressful.
